Frequently asked questions
The camera screen won’t open
Open Kaiwai Kaiwai in iPhone Settings and confirm that camera and microphone access are allowed. Closing and reopening the app may also resolve the issue.
My video has no sound
Videos start muted. While the video is open, use the volume buttons or the on-screen volume icon to turn sound on.
Recording or posting won’t complete
Check your internet connection and available storage, keep the app open, and try again. If it still fails, use the form below to send us the message shown on screen, your device model, and your app version.
I can’t see a Kaiwai video
Only participants in a Kaiwai can view its videos. If you are a participant and the video does not appear, check your internet connection and reopen the screen. Being friends does not let you view Kaiwai or memories that the other person created with different participants.
I want to join an active Kaiwai
Ask a friend in the active Kaiwai to swipe down on the Now screen and display the Kaiwai QR code. Scan the code and confirm that you want to join. You may participate in more than one active Kaiwai at the same time.
Can I watch offline?
A Kaiwai you joined and recorded is added to Memories. Once it has finished saving to your device, you can play it offline. Open the video and use the “…” menu in the upper-right corner to check its save status.
I want to restore a deleted memory
You can restore it from Deleted in Settings for up to 30 days. A Kaiwai that has not finished saving to your device cannot be deleted.
Is location access required?
No. Allow location access while using the app only if you want to save an approximate area name with a recording.
